Be part of the Shire’s First Marine Expo

Sutherland Shire Council's Economic Development Unit together with the Sutherland Shire Marine Association (SSMA) would like to extend an invitation to marine businesses of the Sutherland Shire and Southern Sydney to take part in a Marine Expo in Cronulla in September 2012.

There is vast interest among the local community for water and boating related activities and we believe there is potential for an annual Marine Expo. In order to gauge community interest and test the format, we are planning to run the initial Marine Expo as part of Cronulla’s Spring Festival on 8 & 9 September. The Expo will be held in Dunningham Park (north Cronulla) as well as adjacent Peryman Square, providing an idyllic setting with Cronulla’s beaches and ocean as the backdrop.
 
The objectives of the Marine Expo are:

• Promote the abundance and diversity of marine related goods and services in the Sutherland Shire to a relevant market
• Encourage local business networking  
• Support local business  
• Allow public access to products and technology  
• Attract new interest in this industry for prospective employees and traineeships

We are seeking expressions of interest from all Marine businesses. Larger businesses may wish to display craft while smaller ones can set up stalls, displays and promotions.  The SSMA have already secured support from Hunts Marine, Sirocco Marine and Bold Trailers. The Economic Development Unit will run the event in conjunction with their Cronulla Spring Festival, and Council’s Lifeguard Services, Roads and Maritime Services and the Water Police will also be involved.
